Industrial Deafness is a condition that inflicts people if they work in a noisy environment. You will experience signs that you have it and here they are:

  • Lack of Hearing in One or Both Ears

If you sense that your hearing has minimized in one or worse, both ears then there is a possibility you are suffering from the illness.

  • Missing Parts of Conversations

When you are having a conversation with a friend, you would want to miss a thing. However, if you missed numerous parts of the conversation then it is either you have the illness or you just lost interest in the topic.

  • Turning up the Volume of TV or Radio

The volume of the TV or radio is already adjusted at a pace where everyone can hear it. However, you still have a hard time hearing it so you adjust the volume higher. It would now be at a pace where the other people in the room think it is too loud for them.

  • Struggling to understand people with the Presence of Background Noise

Since you are closer to people you are talking to, you shouldn’t have any problem hearing them even where there is background noise since their voice would prevail over the noise in the background. For example, you are talking to someone in a closed room and a train makes a noise nearby. You are going to hear the train but still understand the person you are talking to. If that is not the case, there is definitely something wrong.

  • Temporary Hearing Loss

This would usually be caused by going to an event that has loud noises like a music festival where rock bands played. From the name itself, the hearing would eventually come back.
